Design Concept:
The Traditional Church Service wanted to see as little of a change to the decor of the Church as possible. At the Contemporary Church Service they wanted to use a Video Projection System for words & music. The screen was placed at the top of the ceiling. The screen when retracted only shows the box which was painted the same color as the ceiling. This matched the decor of the church interior and was accepted by the congregation. The other challenge was they also use the screen when the organist plays at certain times of the year. They did not want to block the sound of the pipe organ directly behind the screen. This was resolved by using a perf screen. I added five feet of black at the top of the screen so the congregation would not have to look up at the screen. The placement of the projector was a challenge too. The same applied for the projector for the traditional service they did not want to see it during there service. I used a projector lifts which drops down from the overhang of the balcony. I notched out of the balcony floor joists enough room for my projector lift and then reinforced the joists for support. I mounted the projector lift and projector with the Navitar long throw lens up into the balcony overhang ceiling. I matched the ceiling with a piece of drywall & added spackle to match the plaster type ceiling. Matched the paint color and painted. When the projector is not in use the projector retracts up into the ceiling of the overhang and the only thing you see is an 1/8” line gap around the bottom square of the drywall ceiling.
