This theater was designed and constructed by Tony Montone
- Design, Construction, & Installation -
The challenge was to design and build a home theater for under $30 k. The owner supplied walls and drywall hanger and finishers. They supplied carpet, chairs and paint.
I designed the room to hide duct work and to give maximum viewing room. I had a challenge to allow access to the sum pump and to the area of the basement behind the screen. I started with the ceiling and used cove lighting for that indirect lighting effect. Using Crestron lighting controls I could program all the light settings with programming to create scenes. I added some down lights for cleaning and sconces on the wood columns. I designed the wood columns using a mahogany finish and placed all the side surround sound speakers in them. I recessed the screen back three feet into a cove and painted the cove black to enhance the contrast of the screen image. I used a perforated screen and placed the left, center and right front speakers behind the screen. I used a Crestron wireless remote control system to control all components & lighting. The Mitsubishi projector wqs mounted to the ceiling
